What do you do when you are living in an RV to celebrate 33 years of marriage? Why plan a big weekend of activities of course. The celebrations started on Thursday and ran all the way through the weekend.
We started things on Thursday with a trip to Sonoita, AZ for some wine tasting. Our RV park sponsors activities for us throughout the month. This week it was a bus ride to local Southern Arizona wine country. The morning started with a stop at Deep Sky Winery. A very nice winery and vineyard. There was a rosé we liked but ultimately we did not buy any. Next stop, Callaghan Vineyard’s, a older established family winery. We liked their choices, they had some good red’s and a couple sweet whites. But again, we left empty handed.
Our lunch stop was at Cafe Sonoita. A great eats stop with a fun outdoor patio. We both had the Green Chile Cheeseburger; OUTSTANDING. Then it was off to our final winery, Charron Vineyards. Our favorite by far. They have a wonderful outdoor patio overlooking a beautiful valley. We walked away with a bottle of red and a bottle of white. It was a great trip and we made some new friends from here at the park.
Last week we did what we never do, we entered a contest on FaceBook. Jay Leno was playing at Casino Del Sol, the local big resort. They were offering two free tickets to the person who suggested the best antique car Jay should buy next. We, of course, submitted a 1951 Studebaker Pick-up. Holy Cow, we won! We were one of only 2 winners. We never win anything!!! So Thursday night, after recovering from wine tasting, we headed over to the resort and enjoyed an hour and a half of great comedy from Jay Leno.
As if winning Leno tickets was not enough, we also had free tickets to the Arizona Bowl for Friday. So Friday afternoon we headed out to Arizona Stadium to watch New Mexico State University beat Utah State University in overtime. We had some great end zone seats. With the temperature 80 degrees, we were happy that we were in the shade (sorry to all of you up north). It was a fun game to watch with back-to-back kick-off returns for touchdowns. They even sold local craft beer!! It was not a full stadium, so later in the game we moved to seats along the 50 yard line and watched the sun set over the Tucson Mountains.
Rounding out a great weekend, as I sit here writing this, we just finished watching the Cyclones beat Memphis to win the Liberty Bowl. How much better can an anniversary celebration get?
A wonderful 33 years it has been- full of adventures, family, friends and love. We can’t wait to see what the next 33 will bring.
