Some of you have asked for more pictures of Maggie out and about with us on our adventures. So I thought we would take this opportunity to tell you a little about her.
Our first dog, Heidi, was 16 years old when she passed away, she too was a mutt. After she passed away, we waited a year to make sure we wanted a dog again, and after waiting the year, there was no question. We all wanted the love and enjoyment of a dog in the family again. Maggie was just a 3-month old pup at the shelter in Omaha when we got her in 2006. We went there looking for a new puppy. There were a couple that fit our interests and when they brought the little black puppy out to see us, it was love at first sight. Maggie was found out on the street, abandoned and starving. We also think she had been abused. She was and always has been pretty submissive. Anyway, we took her home that day. As we were driving home, we were talking with our young sons about a name for the new puppy. As we were driving through Omaha; we passed Maggie Moo Ice Cream, and the rest is history.
Maggie has been with us every since. She is a full member of our adventure team and is with us on all our RV trips. She loves to be outside, and loves to get into the water. She is not a swimmer, but she loves to stand in a cold stream and get a cool drink of ice cold mountain water.
This trip to Colorado is no different. She is a lot older and slower now, as we all are, but she still loves to go on a walk or hike, get in the water, or just GO. She gets cold, because she is part Mexican Hairless, so often times she can be found under a blanket sleeping or resting. At night in the motorhome, she even has her own space heater to keep warm. Spoiled rotten of course!
So this is our dog, she is a part of the family and she makes our trips that much more fun. Thought you might enjoy a couple photos of her from this latest trip.
